Become a Surrogate

Would you like to help another couple start a family?

At Family Formation Law Offices of Michelsen & Cohen, we assist couples who cannot have children on their own. You can share the gift of life by becoming a Surrogate or if you are deciding whether to place your child for adoption, we can help you find a loving family.

Surrogacy

Working with us is truly different from working with other programs and agencies. We are a law firm with over 25 years of experience in Assisted Reproduction. Our team includes members of the American Academy of Assisted Reproductive Technology Attorneys , and Diane has served as Chair Person of this exclusive organization. We are held to a much higher ethical standard than run of the mill surrogacy agencies. Your interests and compensation are safeguarded by our duty of fair-dealing and the State Bar of California. In fact, many surrogates refer their friends and family to us and come back to repeat the process. Our program is different.

We invite women 21-36 years old, who have had a previous childbirth and are residents of California, to apply to become Gestational Carriers. You must also meet Body Mass Index Guidelines as required by the fertility centers. Click here to learn whether you fall within these height/weight requirements. In our program, if you are selected to be a Gestational Carrier, the base compensation, including reimbursement for certain expenses, is $29,000 plus additional amounts for repeat surrogates, gestating multiples, and delivery via c-section.

The women in our program want to give the gift of life to a couple who cannot bear children on their own. These women have found it emotionally fulfilling to bear a child for another family as a Gestational Carrier (also referred to as a “Surrogate”). They also found that, in addition to feeling good about what they did, they were later able to make many wonderful things possible for themselves and for their families.

In a Gestational Surrogacy, the Gestational Carrier bears a child created by In Vitro Fertilization (IVF), from the egg of the Intended Mother (or Egg Donor) and the sperm from the Intended Father (or Sperm Donor). To qualify, we will ask you to complete a medical and psychological screening process. During this process, we will be considering your medical and pregnancy history, family genetics, and height/weight proportions.

Upon receipt of your application, we will contact you to schedule an appointment to meet and to answer any questions or concerns you may have. We look forward to hearing from you.
